My personal language and literacies are something that truly have an impact on both myself as a person, and the life I have lived and continue to live. However, I never really knew how important they truly are until now. I haven’t been able to really see the effects that it has brought upon me, or pinpoint the exact situations and memories that really had an impact either. My language and literacies define me as a person, and quite obviously show who I am as a person, regardless of the relationships I may or may not share with others. 

Throughout phase 1 in English 110, looking back on meaningful or impactful moments in my life really brought to life the development of my own language. That being said, I was really able to share my own story as well as listen to others and put together our coinciding ideas. Language and literacies aren’t only important on a personal level, but show great importance to absolutely everybody. Through the use of exigence, I was able to put this idea out there, and show my own views on many normalized ideas relating towards language. Mainly appealing towards those with similar circumstances as myself, such as being bilingual, or partly bilingual in some cases. Sharing these ideas and the importance of normalizing people of specific heritages or cultures not knowing their native language was a huge factor in my writing. The third course learning outcome really played a huge part in me being able to express these ideas thoroughly and get my message across. “Develop strategies for reading, drafting, collaborating, revising, and editing.” Peer review in breakout rooms and even specific assignments critiquing others’ drafts allowed me to further analyze my own ideas as well as see the significance in my own thoughts while reviewing others’ works.
